New Things for New Seasons
My first (in a long time) post for 2010 (and also my 130th post) will be one of lists.
New Things:
1) being married.
2) living in Milwaukee.
3) Hobby of the year: photography
New(er) Things:
1) celebrating my first Christmas as a married man.
2) moving to Chicago.
2) hobby of the year (hopefully): gardening
Things I'm excited about:
1) calling Chicago home.
2) pursuing a theology of land.
3) urban gardening.
4) investing in relationships.
Books I'm hoping to finish by the end of 2010:
1) East of Eden by John Steinbeck
2) The Next Evangelicalism by Soong-Chan Rah
3) Art and Soul by Brand and Chaplin
4) Here and Now by Henri Nouwen
5) The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Films and documentaries worth seeing again (and again):
1) Man on Wire
2) The Garden
3) Flow
4) Food, Inc.
5) Away We Go
6) Precious
Epiphanies:
1) Care and compassion towards others is intrinsically connected to the sense of belovedness which is found in the heart of God and our own embracing of that truth.
2) I thrive on working with my hands and with soil.
3) To trust in God is a most terrifying and most beautiful business to be in.
A picture of a quote I hope to hang on my wall someday:
